I just purchased a Honda Insight EX Hybrid, and am pleased overall with the car, with the exception of the seat, which doesn’t have the amount of back support I expect, so on longer commutes I start to get a little tight in the lower back area. After looking very carefully at the reviews and descriptions of various lumbar support cushions, I decided to try this one. So far, I like it, but do have some small concerns, so read on….
Pros:
• Thin profile offers support to the lower back area without requiring me to move up in my seat
• So far, the foam seems nice and firm (see cons about this too)
• Gray color matches my seat upholstery pretty well
Cons:
• No strap to hold it in place, so it needs to be positioned every time you get in the car
• Strap is available but pretty expensive – I might buy a full seat slipcover and tuck it under there – not sure the strap would always work anyway, with all of the in/out friction
• Return policy is poor – if you remove it from the plastic, you cannot return it. However, it is difficult to ascertain the "break-in" of the cushion without taking it out of the plastic, so there’s a little risk if you really want to feel how it’s going to work
